Bongekile Simelane popularly known as Babes Wodumo is a South African gqom artist and choreographer. Her unique style and energetic performance have made her be known as the queen of Gqom.

Babes Wodumo was born on the 26^th of July in 1994 in KwaZulu-Natal. As a child, she grew up with interests in dancing, singing, football, and athletics. Her parents, however, never approved of her interests of being in the entertainment world, as her dad, Welcome Semilane was a reverend who headed Lamontville Mount Zion Faith Mission. Eventually, Babes started receiving support from her family as she worked towards her growth as an artist.

Babes Wodumo’s big break came in 2016 when she released a track titled, Wololo which features her significant order, Mampinthsa. The song later appeared on her debut studio album, Gqom Queen, released in late 2016. She appeared on The Black Panther Album on a song called Redemption. In 2017, Wodumo was nominated for the BET Award for Best International Act: Africa. In July 2020, she released her second album, Idando Kazi.
