Kolawole John Olu better known by his stage name K-jay is a Nigerian hip-hop artiste, songwriter and rapper currently studying in the University of Lagos. K-jay first received recognition in 2012 following the release of his debut single "Meant for me." In the following year, he released his other songs including No Regrets, Going hard, Twisted Affair and a few others.
K-jay started rapping at the age of 12 inspired mostly by rappers Eminem and 50 cent. He learnt the basics of rhyming and wordplay from his two mentors. K-jay developed a love for telling stories in his lyrics. By age 14, he had notebooks filled with rhymes, but no beats of his own to record them with. This is when he hooked up with friends, saved money to go into recording studios and produce music which he posted on various internet forums including reverbnation. With the aid of renowned producers such as X-blaze, Omega 04 and K9mix he has been coming up with quality tracks ever since.
He released his fourth single 17th September, 2014 titled "Nothing on you" featuring his close friend Richard Brown (aka Brillzy) who is also a student of the University of Lagos, and had so many downloads in the first few hours. K-jay received major recognition for this single which ended up being the song of the week with over 2000 downloads.
