Ajibade Oluwatosin, popularly known as Mr Eazi is a Nigerian singer and songwriter that has carved his way in the music industry by taking the business aspect of music as seriously as the creative aspect, if not more. He created a unique sound by merging Ghanaian highlife music with Nigerian chord progressions, melodies, and patterns.
Tosin was born on the 19th day of July 1991 in Portharcourt, the capital of Rivers State. His mum was a businesswoman, while his dad was a pilot. His dad later established his own private aviation consulting practice. At a young age, Tosin's interest in music surfaced as he joined the school choir and also listened to his dad's record during breakfast. At age 16, Mr Eazi moved to Ghana to study Petroleum Engineering at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). His entrepreneurship gene made him create a promotional company called, Swagger Entertainment, which he used to plan shows and events and bring artiste from around the continents to perform at KNUST.
Mr Eazi's interest in music grew when he was featured as a guest artiste on a record titled, My Life. He released his first single in 2012 titled, Pipi Dance and later released his follow-up single in 2013 titled, Bankulize. He released a mixtape titled About to Blow in 2013. In 2014, Ghanaian producer, Juls contacted Mr Eazi and decided to remake Bankulize. This brought about their strong chemistry. In 2015, Mr Eazi released Skin Tight which features Efya and was produced by Juls. The rest, they say, is history.
His big break came with the release of Skin Tight, which spiralled a lot of remixes from the likes of Cobhams Asuquo, Wizkid, Dj Caise, Terry G, and so on.
Did you know that Mr Eazi was an e-commerce merchant and dealt with the exportation of soft drinks and sodas from Nigeria to Ghana and back?
