She is hailed as the Traci Chapman of Africa. Suzanna’s music is a fusion of traditional western Kenyan music and contemporary rhythms. Traditional instruments (nyatiti,orutu,) always feature in her songs.
Between 2002 and 2004, Suzanna performed at various international ceremonies and festivals such as the KORA Music Awards in South Africa, Festival Mundial in Holland and Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo.
She is a recipient of the Kisima Music Award for Most Promising Female Artist and Order of the Grand Warrior of Kenya, the highest citizen award from the president of the republic.
Suzanna Owiyo is a recognized 46664 Ambassador, Nelson Mandela’s Global Campaign, UNEP goodwill ambassador, and is involved with the Girls Empowerment Campaign projects.
