Yakubu Jubril, known and referred to as YQ, hails from Kogi state. He was born in the early 80s in Ibadan, Oyo state, and started his music career in 2002 when he formed a group called Q-krest. He started his solo career in 2007.

He’s collaborated with A list acts such as Naeto C, MI, Ice Prince, Banky W, Wizkid, Eldee d Don, Mode 9, Vector, Jaywon, Terry G, Dagrin (R.I.P), Ill Bliss and many more.

YQ has performed on the same stage with Akon (2010), Ricky Rozay (2011) and so many big concerts alongside the biggest Nigerian acts. He’s done tours in the UK, USA, South Africa, Malaysia, Ghana, Dublin (Belfast) etc.

Best Collabo and Best New Act in 2009 and Best Street Hop and 2011, NEA in 2009 and 2011, NMVA, Nigeria/Ireland music festival awards 2011. Won several awards.

Hit songs to his credit: Efimile ft Dagrin, I Like Girls, Dresscode, Sandalili, Efimile Remix, Tonite, Area (MI), Duro (Naeto C), Oyoyo (2shotz), Carry My Bag (Jaywon), Turn By Turn (Kel ft Wizkid) etc.

Big break came with the release of Efimile in 2009.
