hyph! is a rap&hiphop/alternative artiste of considerable lyrical prowess and dexterity. Since as far back as adolescence, when his father made him find a new word and its meaning everyday, he has been fascinated with the powerful connections (or lack there of) that we humans can attach to words and tones. he is passionate about experimenting & combining these elements with emotionally charged, brutally honest, almost moody melodies and rhythms in interesting and unconventional ways. His is a contradiction of old and new age rap styles weaving new york style boom bap with southern playaristic vibes and naija's own rich underground hiphop slang, personality and energy. 

Originally from Delta State, Nigeria. A student of Business Administration in the University of Lagos. He cites Jay-Z, Nas, Fela Kuti, Kanye West and Sauce Kid as a few of his diverse influences. his music style is predominantly rap/hiphop with an eclectic, alternative tinge to it due to his wide range of influences. Never fearing to step into other zones. he currently has a debut mixtape “Bicycle Lane” in 2016 and a sophomore effort “blue+black” to his name. The latter independently released (5th July 2017) on his Soundcloud and doing modest rounds on the online underground rap scene. He aims to get rapheads and others alike vibing stoned to his dangerous sound and carving a niche for himself in a crowded music scene with his particular brand of luxury naija street swagger.

Born Nkem Nwonye, on the 3rd of May, 1991 in Festac Town, Lagos. Moving with his family to the suburbs of Ikoyi when he was 8 and where he began his long affair with music and rapping when he was in secondary school and listened to and internalized any music he could he lay his ears on, so to speak. it was only until he fell in love with the music of the likes of Jay-Z, Nas, Chamillionaire, Sauce Kid, Modenine etc and some chance encounters with like-minded individuals (forming a band with his mates back then called TNT - Top Notch Team Ent) did he begin writing and recording his own music, even trying his hands out at producing. His first ever recordings go as far back as 2007. After a long hiatus due to troubles at school and home in a rebellious streak of the time, the musical spark was rekindled in early 2015 with the events that culminated into the "bicycle lane" mixtape of 2016. He is of christian belief, but admits to not attending church since his parents split up in 2002. he currently resides in Lagos State.
